How It Works

It isn't a shop and it isn't a donation bin. It's a loop — and once you're in it, the closet keeps rotating.

Send

Your prepaid swap bag arrives in the post. Fill it with what your kids have outgrown — clothing, toys, or both — and send it back with the label already attached. Round trip shipping is covered.

Earn

We inspect every item by hand against The Closet Standard. For each one we accept, you earn a credit. Most earn one; a few earn a half, and two halves make a whole.

Swap

Spend your credits on new or soon-to-be favorites, sizes 6M to 7. There's only one of everything, so the closet keeps rotating.

Repeat

Your next swap bag comes with every order, prepaid label already attached. Kids grow, styles evolve, and seasons change.

The details

What happens to things you don't accept?

They aren't sent back. Anything that doesn't meet The Closet Standard is given away or donated, so it still finds a kid — it just doesn't come back to you. Worth reading the standard before you pack, so nothing in the bag is a surprise.

How much can I send at once?
Fill the bag. Your plan caps what you claim, not what you send.

There's no limit on what goes in — pack it full. What your plan sets is how many swaps you can claim each cycle, which is a different number. So a big bag is never wasted: credits sit in your bank until you spend them.

When do my credits show up?
Once your bag has been graded. We'll email you.

When your bag reaches us it joins the next grading batch. Every item is looked at by hand, and when the batch closes your credits land in your credit bank and we'll email you what was accepted.

When am I charged?
Not until your first whole credit lands.

You give us a card when you join, but nothing is taken. Your membership starts charging when your first whole credit lands in your credit bank. If you don't earn one, your card is released and you are never charged at all.

What if something doesn't fit?
Send it back in your next bag and it's graded like any other item.

Kids' sizing varies a lot between brands, so it happens. Put it in your next swap bag and we'll grade it as a fresh intake — if it meets The Closet Standard, it earns you a credit like anything else.

Can I send toys as well as clothes?
Yes — toys have their own rules, and they're on the standard.

Toys are welcome and they're judged differently. A toy has to be wipeable or washable, small enough for a shoe box and under three pounds, and we check it against CPSC recall notices before it goes in the closet. Nothing that lights up, beeps or needs an app, no licensed characters and no plush.

When you pay

You don't pay anything until your first whole credit lands in your credit bank. If you don't earn one, your saved card is released and you are never charged.

Good stuff deserves a second childhood

How the clothing swap process works

KidSwaps is built around a simple idea. You send in what your child has outgrown, and you get back something that fits right now. You get a prepaid swap bag, a straightforward process, and a curated selection waiting on the other side. Here is how it works in plain terms: You request a swap bag, fill it with outgrown kids clothes or toys that meet The Closet Standard, and send it back with your included prepaid label. Every item we accept earns you a credit. Use those credits to shop the next size up, the next stage of toys, or whatever your child needs most right now. It is a kids clothing subscription built around what families actually go through. Kids grow. Tastes change. Interests shift. KidSwaps moves with them so you're never stuck with a closet full of clothes that no longer fit and no idea what to do with. The result is a kids clothes exchange that feels less like a service and more like a system. One that reduces waste, saves money, and keeps your child in something worth wearing.
