How does swapping work?

Send a bag, earn credits, shop the closet.

You fill your swap bag with the clothing and toys your kids have outgrown and send it back with the prepaid label already attached. Every accepted item earns a credit, and credits are what you spend in the closet.

What can I send in?

Lightly used clothing and toys that meet The Closet Standard.

We take clothing and toys in good, clean condition. Everything is inspected by hand, and you get a full breakdown of what was accepted and what was not.

What does it cost?

Plans start at $30 a month.

Membership plans start at $30 a month. Every plan includes a round trip of shipping, so sending your bag back costs you nothing.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, anytime, from your dashboard.

Yes. You can cancel whenever you like from your dashboard, and it takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.

I went looking. Resold nearby? Shipped abroad on a pallet? Shredded?² Which of those, and how much of each, nobody has measured. The EPA doesn’t count what goes to charity for reuse at all,^1,2 and in 2024 the GAO told Congress the data is too thin to work with.³

These were things you chose and paid for. You have no way of knowing whether any of it got a second life. Neither does anyone else.

Here, I can answer it, so I’ve been keeping track since our very first bag. There isn’t much of it yet. When there’s enough to be worth reading, I’ll publish it.
